I have been trying not to get things I have to fix before using because I don't get to it??

So I sat it down , looked at another box of frames saw someone pick up my old one and put it down . Well I went to pick it up (thinking I'll buy it to see if I can find out Who did the picture ?I pick it up and the back came half off . There I find a Surprise. A note and a tin picture !! I am flipping out digging for the missing piece of leaf for the frame then .there is 1 more box I haven't looked through yet! I was so shocked when there is another frame and picture as the other in the box ! When I picked it up I found another tin picture on the backside of the picture but no back to the frame ? i dug back through the other 2 boxes very carefully and found the back in 1 and a note in the last of the second picture!

Is that not just wild ! I love to Up-cycle ,

this is taking something and recreating it into something else or fix up & reuse.
The frame of the last big leaf pic I did , came from the Recycling center (aka dump)

the print is on the back of my pic, LOL .

I found a full size paper cutter last year!!! Anyway ...

#1 the confetti magnet , much prettier in person. Is a lid from the icing cup in the canned Cinnamon buns . I used a pink marker to highlight it. then used botanical glue to add and seal petal confetti from a card sadly "picked on by the PO" from a friend!! then a simple quote for the occasion " live it up"! lightly coat again with B -glue . then add magnet on the back! done :o)

#2 first one " I love flowers magnet " is a smaller lid , gold pen on back ground , lacy sticker, laminated flowers and a punched out heart. magnet on back!
We actually filled a whole truck bed up with just outdoor plants!

Yarrow: It presses easy in a phone book or any press you choose .The red stays red too.The leaves are green ruffled and kind of silvery like butterfly bush leaves. Grows well ,unfortunately snails ,slugs and grasshoppers like them too. this doubled it's size from spring to late summer when it got mowed down by critters .but came back strong before winter hit. I like it! I have had it 2 years now . I can't wait to see it bloom again.
Here is some I pressed last summer!

Pressed Flowers and Leaf Art / Canadian Beauty

This is my newest creation , I call it my "Canadian Beauty" These wonderful pressed leaves were gave me by a Dear friend named Dee Marie from Saskatchewan Canada .

She also did the the great photography work of all the nature scenes in the big picture . Unfortunately my photography is not as good , so You will not be able to appreciate Just how wonderful this collection is.
Well let me tell You the story of this picture!
Dee sent me most of these wonderful leaves last year in at the first of winter in a folder using these wonderful pictures as "rejects in her eyes" to just have something stiff in there to protect the pressed flowers and leaves. I was so excited to get her package. To keep customs from picking through this fragile cargo she had it Well taped.:o) As soon as I saw the picture in the middle , I knew I wanted to frame it .
The quote on it says " All Roads Lead Somewhere ..."
Well I had recently been told at that time , that the house we were renting was being foreclosed on ,so we were going to have to move. I hate moving and this time we had a dog . Long story short we have a beautiful acre of land we were paying on with a VERY worn out house on it. We are going to take each room apart and make it new again as $ and time will allow. So for many months I was not able to create :o(
When I did get to unpack my some of my craft things to try to find some dogwood for Dee (which does not grow there) I looked through several big tubs of flowers looking for treasures to send her and found the wonderful package from Dee. It was like receiving it all over again! This time I knew I wanted a Picture for the first finished room we have now. Our bathroom!! So then I found this really cool frame at the recycling center that was in good condition. It was huge but I had been told by another artist Conrad that Big pictures were easier !
LOL It matters on How you do it , I found out the hard way!
First off I could not think of covering the pictures or cutting them !!:o(
So my OCD side fought with my carefree side and won!! made me measure everything to make sure the pictures stayed centered ! Then I started covering the whole paper that was behind the old picture in the frame using practically every leaf she had sent me in 2 different packages !! I decided to use mod podge to glue and seal.Coating the leaves on both sides of the leaves to protect them more going in to my bathroom .
It took me approx 6 hours ( in 3 days) not counting drying times to finally get it were i said to myself This is it! I was proud as a peacock and I still had a hand full of dainty leaves left . Only using Her leaves! I posted the picture of it while the seal was still wet. I was so excited for Dee to see. I said, I would frame it next day and re-post a picture!
OMG , the next day I realized my picture was about 1/4 an inch short all the way around????????? In total it is around 21x27 inches!

So after much thinking and fussing and growling ? I even dreamed on it! We had a fabulous teacher

Irina Orlova that gave excellent instructions all month long via internet group ! It is so much fun and challenging too.

It is also interesting to see how each student's picture looks a little different ! Trying to upload from the scanner I realized I was having trouble making My scanner copy it the way it really looked? There are so many things to learn?? so little time . At the guild we have talked about Photoshop and those kind of programs to touch up or change a picture or to just try to make it look real as life? I decided to show You the different varieties my programs did ! I was just playing please don't think I am good at this by far. My computer came loaded with programs ,some I still haven't tried in 3 years??Any way here is some examples!

All of these pictures you can click to enlarge to see better.

This is of a Old wooden windmill in the Ukraine .
I tried as hard as I could to copy Irina's lovely work as my skills would allow. When I had trouble with the windmill I decided to search for examples of windmills !? Out of over 300+ images I found 2 like this one from our class!!

This first one on the left has not been touched. It is the nearest to what it looks like real life! It is only an 8 x10 . There are a lot of wonderful fall colors in here from so may neat different plants. And in this case different places from wonderful guild members! The Silver Poplar leaves in the sky came from Pat Smith in Tennessee ! As well as the goose came from Marie Ann Robinson's advice of using this leaf to make a bird! The cool 2 toned plant in the front came from Annamaria in Ireland . The dog was made from banana skin . I started out trying to make another goose but arthritis helped it become a Dog head.
I like him.

The one on the right I used a touch up thingy on a free picasaweb program I downloaded ages ago and just decided to try. I did touch up through out . Look under the goose at the shadowing that looks like geese in the distance .That was just a fluke from trying to play with the sky!
Personally I like the real thing better.

Then there is this one, which I just hit scan on my printer and this is what it came out like?? So we really can change our pictures to look a lot different with those programs !

For the better or worse sometimes. Still looking for my watermark? LOL

Please leave a comment if you enjoyed this info or picture.

Peace

FYI : here is a link to a windmill like this from the back side ! Hmm ,may need to try that!

My mixed media art contest entry

Hi all I am so excited I actually took the time to create something ! Press a bunch of leaves for the table decoration. you can also use mini leaves on your invitations and table place markers.
leaves are easy to press , Really !
It takes newspapers ,one or 2 large old belts and cardboard and of course Leaves! .
grasses work good for centerpieces too !
cut 2 pieces of cardboard about the same size of a folded newspaper (1 for top 1 for bottom)
stack about paper 8 pages deep, place fall leaves on paper try not to let them touch ,
add 8 sheets more of paper and repeat . you can stack these about a foot deep.
Place cardboard on top then carefully wrap belts around the bundle tight. place in a dry sunny area for about a week.
Or place in car for 2 to 3 days ,it works like a dehydrator ! take out and check it , They should be dry .
